Colorado job seekers turned out in droves last week in hopes of attaining a job in the state's burgeoning cannabis industry.
More than a dozen companies joined forces to recruit for positions in accounting, IT, trimming, growing, customer service, and sales, just to name a few. Promoters of the job fair had expected around 700 job seekers, however close to 2,000 potential employees showed up at the O.PenVape headquarters, where the event was being held.
In addition to O.PenVape, which was looking to recruit an estimated 120 new employees, other companies at the job fair included The Hemp Connoisseur Magazine, Walking Raven Retail Marijuana Center, CannaClassifides.com, Colorado Green Tours, and Dixie Elixirs.
Positions that involve direct contact with cannabis require a marijuana occupational license. A background check and confirmation of Colorado residency are needed to obtain a license.
